Card is a bit old, so you can try different versions but probably some bugs remain unfixed because there aren’t that many people using it anymore. I would go to system76 website and see witch notebooks they had and some do have ati cards.

But, just stay away from ATI cards and Linux, they don’t have very good drivers. This old adapter may not have enough RAM to support xpress big displays. I do not find such an entry on the ATI drivers pages.

You should not install any drivers, just use the default radeon driver. This way I have to use the generic linux driver. And as far as i remember 11550 X worked fine under Linux, including 3D support. Here’s other similar drivers linnux are different versions or releases for different operating systems: Apple and Mac OS X.

Looks like the OP tried to install drivers because he thought that was needed, not because the gpu presented any problems in the default configuration. Apparently you can lol.
